25 May For Christmas, I want long, healthy hair!
We may be masters of cuts and colours, but unfortunately, hairdressers can’t control how fast your hair grows. However, there may be a few tips to encourage your hair growth …
- Regular snips – Trim your hair every 6-8 weeks to get rid of split ends. Split ends form when the hair is damaged due to heat styling, smoking, pollution, stress and many other factors. However, even if you follow all the best hair care tips & tricks, keeping it as healthy as you can, sometimes split ends are just inevitable. Hair growth happens at the scalp level, but trimming helps ensures healthy hair. So rather than trying to seal them up, book an appointment with your hairdresser and get them snipped off.
- Drink, and eat! – No, not the ‘drinking and eating’ you may be thinking of … lot’s of water and a healthy, balanced diet. Internal & external hydration is the key to well-balanced and healthy hair. You may be using hydrating hair care products and oils, but dehydration immediately halts hair growth, so ensure you’re giving your body what it needs to look and feel fabulous! Your hair is made of proteins and amino acids. It needs the right nutrition to grow well and maintain itself. Eggs, berries, nuts, fish, green leafy vegetables, sweet potatoes are some of the many great foods for healthy hair. A well-rounded diet is an important factor in hair and scalp health. Hair is primarily made up of protein, so be sure to eat enough protein to maintain the levels within your hair. Diets with inadequate protein can result in weak, brittle hair and loss of hair colour, as well as loss of hair itself.
- #Stressless – If you notice someone with healthy hair, we can bet our lives and say that they worry a little less. Stress can cause hair fall and unhealthy hair.
Healthy hair takes work, lengthening your hair takes time. Invest in good products and a good routine and maybe, just maybe, you’ll start to see the results you’ve been working on for Christmas!
